A Look Back at our First Year at Family Focus Eyecare

Book Appointment

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since we opened the door at Family Focus Eyecare.  The first month was interesting to say the least.  We, or I, had taken over the office for the first month with nobody to help me.  All office phone calls were forwarded to my cellphone, which rang at all hours day and night.  I refused to go anywhere without a pen and paper so I could take notes and supply people with their orders and to arrange their pick-ups.  I would wake in the middle of the night convinced I had let so-and-so down or forgotten to do “x.”  It’s funny to look back on, but wow, I am so glad it’s over.

Though unorganized, Family Focus Eyecare managed to pull through May and into June when Dr. Barrett, Steve, and everyone else were finally able to begin.  I know it was chaotic and I am extremely appreciative of the patience and understanding our patients exhibited during our difficult transition.

Around September we finally had our new sign installed – which proved to be the final signal that the office had been revamped and things would be much different than previous ownerships and management.

We had a vision to provide the best eye care, materials, and staff – through which we would educate and provide the best experiences for all walks of life – be it age, gender, or income.  I truly believe we have accomplished this feat and that Family Focus Eyecare is a destination with an experience that sets a new standard in what eye care should be.

My favorite part over the last year has truly been meeting the hundreds of new families and being trusted as their primary eye care physician.

We couldn’t have had all of this success without you, our patients. That’s why when it came time to celebrate a successful first year we wanted to include you in the celebration.

We hosted one heck of a birthday bash – and I was amazed at the turn-out! The party included the most succulent pulled pork from Artisan Builders, refreshments from Dogmaster Distillery and a Frame Show with hundreds of unique frames. (Special thanks to our frame exhibitors L’Unique, with Booth and Bruce, Oxibis, and Traction Productions; Tom Ford; and our event sponsor, Kodak Lens). We also christened the building with a ribbon cutting ceremony thanks to the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

If you couldn’t make it, browse highlights from the evening below. Also, be sure to check out our Facebook Live video from the event!

As always, we strive to be the best, we constantly tweak procedures to improve everything we do – so if you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us.  And, if you love what we’ve done so far, be sure to review us online (GoogleFacebookYelp), or for the ultimate compliment, send a friend our way.

It was a great year and I promise the best is yet to come.

Thank you all,
